FIRST TIME BUS TRAVELER?

Here are a few things to keep in mind if you are a first-time Greyhound passenger:

Most Greyhound customers purchase their ticket within two hours of departure. You do not need a reservation to travel. If you know the departure schedule, simply go online or come down to the terminal at least an hour before departure and buy your ticket there. We accept cash, most major credit cards and traveler's checks.

You can get information through our Fare & Schedule telephone center at 1-800-231-2222, but please note that while we normally answer in 30 seconds, we are currently experiencing 5-10 minute delays due to recent events.

THERE ARE NO RESERVATIONS ON BUS SCHEDULES

An airline has a limited number of seats available on any given departure. When Greyhound sells more seats than are available on the regularly scheduled departure, we "call-up" an additional bus referred to as an "extra section." In this way, we can accommodate more that 47 passengers for any given departure. We do not usually limit the number of tickets sold as the airlines do. Of course, our ability to add extra sections depends on the availability of buses, drivers and the number of passengers.

THERE IS NO ASSIGNED SEATING ON BUS SCHEDULES

Seating selecction occurs after boarding on a first-come, first-served basis.

A PURCHASED TICKET IS NOT A GUARANTEE TO BOARD.

Again, boarding the bus occurs on a first-come, first-served basis. Passengers arriving on a schedule and taking a rest stop are given priority to reboard. In overflow situations, your ticket usually has a "boarding number" in the upper right area which is used to determine boarding order. If the first bus is full, and no additional buses are available, the customer will be accommodated on the next available departure.
